Posing Without Poseboxes: Sitting
Sooooo, I was a little bit hesitant about doing this. Sims 3 comes out in like, 2 seconds, so I’m not sure how helpful these tutorials will be in the long term. I’m also finding that there is a significant amount of vitriol floating around the Sims 2 community. Not directed at anything in particular… just… vitriol. I was completely unaware of it until recently, but now that I am, it’s a bit intimidating to contribute to a community where there is so much snark and derision. It makes me worry that we’re approaching the end of an era. I’m not really planning on getting Sims 3, at least not until it’s established itself within the gaming world and I can get some legitimate feedback on it. I couldn’t do anything, especially not these tutorials, without custom content and it seems like EA is keeping all modding abilities to itself, which is unappetizing to say the least.
Feh. All that said, I do hope this is of service. I’ll eventually get it up on the LJ, after I stop being afraid of it.

Trust me dude, this will still be useful for some time to come ESPECIALLY if EAxis is putting the lock down on the modding tools. The Sims 3 will be difficult, if not virtually impossible for storytelling without the custom content. And in any case, I can think of several stories off the top of my head that will be on-going and that will continue to use the Sims 2 for their duration.
I wasn’t aware of the vitriol though. That’s why I keep a healthy distance from places like GOS and LiveJournal.

I’m getting the Sims 3 but that’s just going to be for fun times. I have three stories going using the Sims 2 so there’s no way I’m just going to drop them or *shudders at the thought* try to recreate them in Sims 3. So yeah…Sims 2 still will be mine to mold and play with!
And yes, dude, there’s A LOT of wank in the Sims 2 community. I like flying under the radar!
I enjoy LJ(where I can talk about random stuff other than the Sims) and some of the comms there are cool(as you know!).
Love the tutorial! Awesome job! You have more patience than I do. Seriously!

Thanks guys! I wasn’t really aware of the vitriol either. I kind of just stumbled across it, and the Sims 3 seems to be enhancing it or something. I’m not at all above the radar, and pretty unknown in any case, but it just really turned me off to things I thought I might have wanted to get involved in.

I am another one who won’t be on the Sims 3 band wagon any time soon for various reasons. I am with Phoenix in that I have ongoing writing that I won’t recreate in S3 and I still have a lot to explore with Sims 2.
I try to stay away from drama although I do inadvertently step in in sometimes…like gum on the sidewalk that your foot refuses to bypass.

Yeah, I really can’t see doing this story in another platform. Not just because I don’t know a damn thing about S3, but also because I’ve grown comfortable in this medium. Granted this story does have an end, but if I were to ever decide to continue writing, I really doubt S3 would be able to pull me in the way S2 has.
I hope it’s of service Gayl! Thanks for supporting it!

I’ll continue to use TS2 for the foreseeable future. TS3 doesn’t look useful for anything but casual gameplay. So thank you for doing this!
and people who get snarky over something like the sims need to get a life. Period.

I’m finding TS3 to be less of a community threat by the minute. I initially freaked out because it seemed like everyone was picking sides, or something. But meh. Now that I’m really learning abotu it, it’s hardly worth the energy.
